Simon's Heart works to raise awareness about sudden cardiac arrest and death. Solnick Lawyers supports Simon's Heart in honor of Jayden Rodriguez, Kelly Kosmalski's cousin, who died in his sleep at age 13 from an undetected and treatable heart problem. None of Jayden's physical exams showed that he lived with a ticking time bomb in his chest, and there was no reason to suspect any problems in this healthy and athletic child. Simon's Heart works to prevent tragic deaths like Jayden's through a variety of strategic initiatives, including creating and advancing innovative and evidence-based programs, policies, and research that prevent sudden cardiac arrest and death in children, teens, and young adults.
The Temple University Owl Club supports the Temple University athletic programs through a variety of activities. It helps secure resources for Temple students, many of whom would not otherwise have access to a college education, and provides access to financial aid and athletic scholarships as well as providing student athletes with the means to become successful students, successful athletes, and successful members of society, including opportunities for leadership development and community involvement. In 2016, a Philadelphia neighborhood united to support 7-year-old Philomena Stendardo, who was battling diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG), a rare form of childhood brain cancer. What started as a tight-knit community rallying for one of their own has had a tremendous ripple effect that has crossed city, state, and even international borders as people pledged to “storm the heavens” for brave little Philomena. Solnick Lawyers joined the effort to support Philomena, and then to raise money for DIPG research after Philomena sadly lost her battle with the dreaded disease.
