Giving Back – Community Development in Philadelphia

September 30, 2016

Life is not a spectator sport. It is so important to take part in the world around us, to assume an active role in not just living in our society, but in making it better. The experience is enriching, fulfilling, and inspires personal growth, but most of all it is contagious. When you give back it starts a ripple effect that inspires others to follow suit. The world is so much better when you are an active, engaged participant.

The attorneys at Solnick Lawyers recognize the importance of supporting the community and giving back. Learn how this awareness has led to a deep commitment to making a difference in the Philadelphia area.

A City of History and Wonder

Philadelphia, it’s Greek for “brotherly love” which is how it got its nickname “The City of Brotherly Love.” It’s the home of the Liberty Bell and where the nation’s first library, founded by Benjamin Franklin in 1731, resides. The city has a large arts community and the commitment to the development and promotion of fine arts is apparent with the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, the first art school and art museum in the United States, it opened in 1805. It is also considered the Mural Capital of the U.S. due to the incredible 2,000 outdoor murals, and is thought to have more public art than any other city in the country. When it comes down to it though, it’s the people of Philadelphia that make it so great.

Attorney Jay Solnick Gives back to Temple University

The Temple University Owl Club supports the Temple University athletic program through a variety of activities. It helps secure resources for Temple students to have access to financial aid and athletic scholarships as well as providing them with the means to become successful students and successful athletes. Students are presented with opportunities for leadership development and community involvement. Attorney Jay Solnick is a strong supporter of the athletic programs at Temple University, his alma mater, as a member of the Temple University Owl Club Executive Board.

Storm the Heavens

A Philadelphia neighborhood has united to support a little 7-year-old girl who is battling a brain tumor. What started as a tight-knit community rallying for one of their own has had a tremendous ripple effect that has crossed city, state, and even international borders as people pledge to “storm the heavens” for little Philomena Stendardo. Solnick Lawyers has joined the #philsaphighter / Storm the Heavens campaign as they showed their support on Attorney Jay Solnick’s Facebook page.
